My Get-Rich-Quick Scheme

community connection Nov 05, 2026

I want more long lunches, more lingering at the table, more walks with people I love, more deep conversations that don’t involve watching the clock. I want the kind of wealth that is about knowing who to call, having people who know the backstory, and being able to sit quietly and hold space for someone.

In her book, The Serviceberry, Robing Kimmerer writes, “The prosperity of the community grows from the flow of relationships, not the accumulation of goods.”

We’ve got plenty of opportunities to invest in that kind of wealth on the horizon. November and December can fill up quickly. There are meals to make, gifts to buy, calendars to coordinate, places to go, and people we hope to see. I don’t want to get so busy arranging all the things around being together that I miss the being together part.

My get-rich-quick scheme looks like watching for opportunities each day to create relational wealth, embracing them, and relishing them. I may even keep a running list. When I plan my day, I’m also going to be intentional about one moment where I can create on small relational investment. A phone call, an text, an email, maybe face-to-face time. The point is an investment of my time to make contact.

I’m looking forward to this kind of investment. How about you? Want to give it a try to? Message me (paigekullmancoaching@gmail.com) and let me know what you are doing so I can cheer you on.
